Communication

Congo, Africa

Chimpanzees communicate through a complex system of vocalizations, gestures, and facial expressions. They use a combination of grunts, hoots, and calls for different situations like food or danger, and employ a rich set of gestures and body language, such as stomping, clapping, or presenting their rear. This multi-modal communication is used for everything from making social requests like grooming to warning others about a threat.
