Gathering Breakfast

Bonobos are omnivores. Their diet primarily consists of fruits and vegetation, but also includes insects, worms, and occasionally small fish. They forage for food both on the ground and in the canopy. They use their hands to gather food, often moving down from trees to eat and share their finds with others in their group. They have been observed using and modifying natural tools like rocks to crack nuts, or sticks to dig.
Bonobos are incredibly agile in the trees in which they reside, even at a young age. At night they build nests high up in the trees to protect themselves from predators and slowly descend as the day progresses.
