Lounging Leopard

Masai Mara, Kenya, East Africa

A leopard rests in a tree as it scans the surroundings. Leopards are solitary creatures and are generally nocturnal. As such, they spend a large percentage of the day sleeping in trees. Although not the only African cat to do so, they are the most adept at climbing trees and often stash their kills up high to kept it from other predators. Photo © copyright by Dr. Edward Mikol.
