“Snowy” Great Egret
South Carolina , USA
Great Egrets are occasionally spotted in snowy, freezing conditions. While they usually migrate from northern areas, some remain in colder climates where water remains open. This one was captured during a rare, fleeting snowstorm in the southeastern United States. Ironically, it's better camouflaged in snowy conditions than environments where they are usually seen.
