I See You
Kenya, Africa
Despite their massive bodies an elephant’s eye is relatively small, being similar in size to a human eye. Their vision is especially suited for low-light conditions. They can detect movement from a distance but they have limited depth perception. They have a third eyelid that helps to protect and lubricate the eye. Eye contact is crucial for social interactions among elephants, enabling visual recognition and emotional communication within their herds.
