A bull elephant in musth demands respect. Literally meaning “intoxicated” in Persian, musth (or must) is marked by a spike in reproductive hormones, causing the bull to behave erratically. This bull approached exhibiting a cadre of signs associated with musth.

When an elephant intends to kill an animal, it will kneel and crush the animal with its head or impale it with its tusks. This elephants' intentions were unmistakable. In an instant, and with impressive ease, this large bull knelt and buried his large tusks deeply into the ground.
