Burchell's Zebras
Namibia, Africa
Burchell's zebra (Equus quagga burchellii) is a southern subspecies of the plains zebra. Burchell’s zebra is distinguished by one or two shadow stripes between the bold, broad stripes on the haunch. Each zebra has unique stripes that can be used as an identification character to distinguish between individuals. Burchell’s zebra occur throughout all habitats, but they are strictly water-dependent; therefore they rarely move from waterholes.
