Great Egret tending to the nest

Great Egrets are colonial nesters, often building stick nests high in trees or shrubs near water (marshes, lakes, mangroves) to avoid predators. Males choose the site and start construction, attracting females with display plumes and vocalizations. Pairs bond for a season, produce 1–6 pale green-blue eggs, with incubation lasting 23-27 days shared by both parents.
