Anhinga Male Tending Nest

South Carolina, USA

Anhingas nest in trees or shrubs overhangiing water, constructing bulky, shallow platforms made of sticks and green leaves. They usually breed in marshes or swamps, often with other waterbirds. Both parents share duties, including building the nest, incubating 2–6 pale blue eggs, and feeding the chicks, which can take up to 6 weeks to fledge.
