The Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness near Aspen is an iconic, stunningly beautiful area. The peaks of the Maroon Bells rise to 14,163 ft and sit in a glacially-carved valley. Wonderful at any time of the year, to me the best viewing conditions are in the fall when the golden leaves of the aspen trees and the snow-capped mountains are reflected in a calm Maroon Lake. But you won't be alone, it is a wildly popular area...For good reason.
