In its namesake national park, the dormant Haleakala volcano rises to a peak of 10,023 feet. It is visible from nearly everywhere on the island of Maui. A the summit lies a unique ecosystem containing species not found elsewhere, such as the silversword plant. It is perhaps best known for the morning views from the top.
