Blackwater Marsh Sunset
South Carolina, USA
A number of blackwater rivers flow through South Carolina. Many are tidal and as such, the surrounding swamps lent themselves to the cultivation of rice. These native swamps were cleared of the old-growth trees that once adorned them. However, as rice cultivation has fallen off, many of these swamps are reverting back to their old form.
